Meet Us!

WELCOME!

We believe in our motto "Commitment to Build"

Hello,

My name is Becca Davis.  I am the president of Ceres, the women’s agriculture fraternity here on campus!  I wanted to reach out and invite you to join us for our Fall Rush.  We would absolutely love for you to join our sisterhood!  Ceres is a sorority that values scholarship, fellowship, leadership and commitment.  We feel that you may be a wonderful fit for our growing organization!

While Ceres is an agricultural organization, we welcome women from all majors.  The philanthropies we support are Relay For Life and the Violence Intervention and Protection Center (VIP) here on campus.  We have recently joined the United Greek Coalition (UGC), along with Beta Upsilon Chi. The UK Ceres chapter is a close knit sisterhood with a strong sense of community.  We harvest only the best!

If you are interested in finding out more about our sisterhood or would like to get to know the wonderful Ceres ladies, you can contact me at rada225@l.uky.edu, or Jennifer Nunn (Recruitment Chair) at jnu223@g.uky.edu.  And if you are interested in why I decided to join Ceres and how it has impacted my time at UK, please keep on reading!

I came from a small all girls’ high school in Ohio and knew no one going to UK.  As the summer after my senior year was coming to an end I was still unsure of if I wanted to join Greek Life on campus.  I eventually came to the decision of not joining because it was not something I thought was for me.  Once I was all moved in to what was going to be my home for the next 9 months, I found it was incredibly hard to find a group that I felt I could be myself in.  As the weeks went by and classes started I eventually got occupied with homework, paper and exams, while the other girls in my dorm went to Greek Life events.

After about a month of being at the university I still felt that I had not found my place and that’s when I received the rush email for Ceres.  I heard about Ceres at the beginning of K Week and thought it was like all the other sororities, but when I received the email and I thought I might as well at least go check it out, and to be honest, it was probably the best decision I’ve made here at UK.  After the first night of Rush, I couldn’t wait to get to know the sisters better and learn what Ceres was all about.  The closeness of the friendships and the diversity of the girls struck me as the perfect combination.  It felt like being home.  I couldn’t wait to join!

Since becoming a member of Ceres, I have found some of the strongest friendships in my life and have never felt more supported.  From going on sisterhood events, to living in the sorority house I have made some of the best memories with my sisters.  Not only are my sisters there for me when I am sick or upset, but they have helped me network for jobs, discover awesome classes and just support me in my academic endeavors. Outside of the wonderful fellowship we have, Ceres also helped me find a leader in myself.  My time in Ceres has allowed me to grow and become a better student and a better person. The girls that I have encountered in Ceres have been the most genuine, caring, smart and unique girls I have met and I would not trade my experiences for anything. I hope you stop by our Rush week this fall and allow Ceres to help you improve your time at UK as well!  See you soon!

Sincerely,

Becca Davis
